Standard Solutions

Solution 1

Solution 1
When using magnesium oxide board for ceilings, the first thing to consider is the issue of weight, otherwise the ceiling may easily sag. We know that the weight of an 8mm gypsum is 5.1~5.5 kgs/㎡. However, if using mgo board, the fire resistance and strength of a 6mm mgo board far exceed those of an 8mm gypsum board. The weight of 6mm mgo board is approximately 5.7 kgs/m2, with little difference in weigh, but the mgo ceiling can reach A1 grade fireproof.

Solution 2
In the application of ceiling construction, most builders are accustomed to using 8mm boards, so even when switching to mgo board, they still choose 8mm. In this case, the issue of weight need to be solved. Therefore, we have adjusted the formula for our customers, adding some lightweight inorganic materials to reduce the weight of the boards. Our clients have been using this customized magnesium oxide board ceiling for as long as 10 years, and there have been no reported issues so far.

Another method to reduce the weight of the board is by perforation, which is also a common treatment for gypsum ceilings. The patterns of perforation are diverse, reducing the weight of the board while also increasing the aesthetics of the ceiling.

Magnesium Oxide Boards are a man made factory-produced non-insulating sheathing board products that are used for general construction applications. MgO board is similar to traditional drywall or cement board, but is much stronger, fireproof, and has a higher resistance to mould, mildew, moisture, and weather. The MgO board is becoming popular all over the world to use for walls, such as SIP, partition wall, exterior wall, decorative wall, and modular houses.

Flooring is one of the most widely used applications of mgo board. The advantages of mgo board in terms of strength, flexibility, fireproof, moisture resistance, termite resistance, health safe, insulation and a very low carbon footprint of only 5% make it quickly become an excellent substitute for traditional real estate materials. The application of mgo board in flooring can be subdivided into the following three types.

MgO Subflooring
MgO Underlayment
MgO container flooring

Every year, countless lives are lost worldwide due to fires. Therefore, many countries worldwide are continually raising the standard of fire safety in buildings. The magnesium oxide boards are now widely utilized in fire doors and are favored for their A1-level fire resistance.
